About Us
TMCR have secured a 5-year community radio license from OfCom to serve the Thorne and Moorends area of Doncaster.

The idea was first put forward late in 2004, by early 2005 a communications sub-committee was formed and this has developed into the management committee which oversees the operation today. See the History page for more.

A 28 day broadcast was made during July-August 2005 from a studio in Finkle Court. We are now building up towards further broadcasts, applying for the licenses, sorting out new offices and the training studio. It's an exciting time for all those involved.

Thanks to a funding grant being obtained, we applied for the 5-year license in June 2007, it was announced on December 20th that we had been offered one, but there's a lot of work still to be done.

Committee
We are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers who can offer that bit more to join us at committee level. You may run your own business, be a magistrate, a solicitor, or even a school dinner lady, we don't mind. Committee members help to shape the station, so if you have big ideas and want to help, get in touch.

Our aim
We are looking to secure a full-time community radio license for the area. This will allow us to broadcast to the entire community, and a bit beyond, on FM in Stereo, just like all the other stations, but with a big difference - we will put local people on the air, with local news and information. It's a community station, run by people in YOUR Community, for the people in YOUR Community, by people from YOUR Community.
When we do take to the air, have a listen and hear the difference. We're not here to put money into the pockets of share holders, we don't even pay our presenters!
Volunteers
We can always use a spare pair of hands. Do you think you could be the next Terry Wogan (budding Chris Moyles clones or house music DJ's should not apply!) and be able to play a wide range of music as one of our presenters?
Can you answer telephones and take requests when we are on the air?
Can you handle a soldering iron and know the different between a jack plug and  a bath plug?
Are you able to approach companies and get them to advertise with us?
NOW is the time to come forward. We need to build our team of volunteers before we take to the air again.

We will provide training in whatever you want to do, and may also give you external training courses as part of helping you to have fun with TMCR.
