Welcome to TMCR FM TMCR FM is a new Community Radio station for Thorne and Moorends. Started in early 2005, with a broadcast that summer, we're currently re-building the station by applying for new funding to take the project forward. A new look website and some different people behind the project, it's looking good. Read more by clicking the banner.. | In The Park 2008 Click the link to the left to find out when TMCR will be out and about in 2008 January 14th 2008 A new company, Limited by Guarantee, has been formed in the name TMCRFM Limited to be the operating body. December 20th - WE GOT IT! The news was released by OfCom today, TMCR have been offered a full five-year community radtio station license. It's taken three years to reach this stage, and probably another year to go before we could be broadcasting full time. There's a lot of work to go into raising the funding required. We'll keep you updated through the pages of this website. December 18th At a special directors meeting it was agreed to dissolve the current private limited company as it was 'the wrong type' for our group. A new company limited by guarantee will be formed shortly. If it wasn't for the tax office pointing that out we would not have known. Watch this space We are expecting an important announcement to be made on Monday December 17th 2007... OfCom have announced the new licenses for November 2007, ours has not yet gone through the system. Doncaster Youth Council award December 12th. To help support the youth element of the station, an application was made to Doncaster Youth Council for a small grant towards equipment. Thanks to the hard work put in by Nathan and Jade, we've heard that a grant is to be awarded to TMCR. This will be used to buy in portable PA equipment and some rather nice polo shirts for the team to wear! Another funding grant secured November 19th 2007. We've managed to gain another small grant towards development of TMCR. The latest ones means that our project manager will be in the studio on four days a week from December to May. This is to prepare further funding bids, once we get our license (hopefully), look after training sessions, arrange a big mailshot to businesses, contact local organisations about promoting their groups on air when we broadcast next, and generally look after our office. Thorne Fireworks Night - Monday Nov 5th 2007 Bob Ashton and Gordon Sharpe were there playing the music and TMCR jingles at the annual firework night on Coulman Rec. October 2007 October 16th. OfCom have announced a batch of new community radio licenses, but we're not amongst them - yet. It now looks like we will not hear anything until after their November committee meeting. Keep watching, we'll let you know when we have more news. Youth Training. In the hands of our youth team, we are looking to have an event announced towards the end of November for all those interested. Funding. A bid has been made to allow us to extend our activities a little further, we hope to hear some positive news about this later in November as well. Back on the air? A further funding bid is being put together to support another 28 day broadcast in Summer 2008. This is seperate to the full-time license. Millionaires wanted. Seriously, we need financial backing for the project and all donations are welcome, no matter how small. Click 'About Us' at the top, then look for 'Donate' in the side menu. September 2007 Our business name is now Thorne-Moorends Community Radio Limited, a private limited company, no. 6373879. We had planned to register a company name some time ago, but for several reasons it's only recently been done. We will shortly be announcing an open evening to launch a youth training scheme. This will be open to young people between 13 and 18 who wish to learn more about the radio station, what we intend doing in the future, and to train them in using the studio equipment. Contact us if you are interested. June 2007 TMCR's application to OfCom for a 5-year license was confirmed as received by them on Friday 22nd June, now we have to wait for them to read it and make an offer of a license. That's not expected to happen until October though. We now have a WEB SHOP - click the link to the left to find out more about supporting TMCR by buying online from major retailers May 2007 We have a studio again. Malcolm, Bob and Gordon went and got the equipment out of storage and the studio burst into life just after 3.30pm

We have re-launched TMCR as an active project from May 1st 2007. Our new base is within The Winning Post Community Centre on Marshlands Road in Moorends, where we will be offering training and other activities We have re-connected our landline with the original number. March 2007 We've remained a bit stagnant for a while as we've been unable to get funding for the project. 2007 has brought forward a few opportunities and we're doing all the paperwork to apply. All being well we'll have a new address in May, and could even be back on the airwaves in late summer. Keep watching this space and we'll keep you informed. Get in touch, join us...
