| The group now know they have been offered a full time license. Now this knowledge is secured we will be approaching funders to help set up the radio station the area deserves. | Expectations are that we will be able to purchase a building to house the station. This will be kitted out with broadcasting equipment, an office and social area, kitchen, toilet and storage. |
Providing funding can be gained, which is always a difficult task, we will be looking to take on renovation of a building to house the eventual radio station. Additionally, we have to buy in the studio equipment, transmitter and other equipment. On top of this will be the costs of licensing the broadcasts, overheads involved with running the station itself, salaries and much more. | We will employ a full-time station manager, a part-time deputy manager and a part-time admin person initially. Someone has to be 'in charge' of various responsibilities and the day to day running will be down to the station manager. As we will be relying heavily on funding streams to support the start of the long term operation we will have a lot of paperwork to look after, not just paying the ongoing bills. The greater majority of staff will be volunteers, people who want to help provide the radio service we will be offering. Similar stations in other areas report that they get potential volunteers in their hundreds, once the station starts to broadcast that is. |
